Until recently, I’ve resisted the iPhenom. I absolutely refuse to spend a fortune on a phone that is a glorified mp3 player. Then again, I could enhance my techno experience by accenting my Sanyo Katana (which I love) with an iTouch so that I can carry my photos around with me. Now, the folks at Dynolicious have created a killer app that I just have to have. I mean, it’s a legit business expense to be used during road tests. Right?
So what is a Dynolicious? It is a cool bit of software that uses the accelerometer built into your iPhone to record and display your feats of masterful hoonage. In other words, it turns your phone into a data acquisition device just like the real racers use. All without any sort of wires or hookup. Just plop your iPhone in the cupholder, do your stuff and then take it into Starbucks to show your buddies how fast your whip is!

According to the Dynolicious web site, the nifty tool will record:
* 0-60 MPH
* Other Speed Tests (0-10 MPH through 0-100 MPH in 10MPH increments)
* Quarter Mile Elapsed Time
* Quarter Mile Trap Speed
* Elapsed Time and Trap Speed for standard intervals (60′, 330′, 1/8 Mi, 1000′)
* Lateral G’s (current and peak)
* Braking G’s (current and peak)
* Wheel Horsepower
* Estimated Engine Horsepower
And provides data output in super trick real time graphs. It will also store individual runs and compare sessions and give averages. Accuracy to within 0.08 second within a 0-60 and within 0.1 of a second in the quarter means it won’t be capable of splitting hairs for the hard core tuner, but should be more than accurate enough for bragging rights.

You can learn more about Dynolicious at the official web site and should be able to buy it soon from the iTunes app store. Now I really have an excuse to pick up an iTouch! I need it for quality reporting don’t I?

hey don’t knock the iPhone! It is better than 99.9% of the cell phones out there!
No knocking…I just haven’t had the urge to buy one. I love my funky blue katana.
Knocking iphone or not this app looks sick. I definitely wanna try it out
I just got the app and I love it. I’m blown away by the fact that it really is more accurate than the g tech in our tests on the strip. Hello $12 app, goodby $200 meter.
