2009 Dodge Challenger SE

With the Chevy Camaro upon us, it’s time for all ponycar makers to raise their game. Dodge has released the Challenger SE Rallye, the top-line V-6 model. Setting the Rallye apart from lesser SE’s externally are dual body stripes on the hood and deck lid, a chromed fuel door, deck lid spoiler and black accented 18″ wheels. The interior is treated to micro carbon accent trim (My guess? Faux carbon fiber trim).

The most significant improvement will be the addition of a five-speed automatic borrowed from the Hemi-powered Challengers. Dodge promises better starts from a standstill, and 25mpg highway mileage. The five-speed auto will now be the standard transmission on all V-6 Challengers, replacing the old, crude four-speed. Production of the SE Rallye begins this month. Base price is $26,490 (including shipping).

We’ll be testing a Rallye here in The Garage in about 6 weeks – we’ve already booked the ride!
