It’s funny sometimes how a forum thread can stir up a whole bunch of real world details! One of the forum members over at The Jalopy Journal’s H.A.M.B. found a Yeakel Bros license plate frame and asked about it’s history. The next thing you know, up pops Fred Yeakel with some real history and a great Cheetah website.
In the picture above, in addition to 2 Cheetahs, we can see the Cobra race hauler and a Corvette Grand Sport! This shot was taken at the first USRRC in Augusta, Georgia.
It’s a funny thing, with all the oddball 60’s era sports racers I’ve seen at Mosport and The Glen over the years, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a Cheetah in person. Maybe Fred and Gary Faules can share a trailer and head up here for the VARAC Festival next summer.

Very cool
OK, so I’m gonna date myself…. In the late 60’s when slot cars became all the big rage I owned a Cheetah and without a doubt it had to be the coolest slot car ever made. At the age of 15 the fantasy that I had (regarding the car that is) never left and still to this day it has to be the second coolest car in the world.
I eventually found a Cheetah for my own but it just wasn’t the same. It happened while on safari in Africa but that’s another story.
That’s funny, I had a cheetah slot car also, in fact I may still have it! it was orange.
