Life has been pretty busy here in The Garage over the past couple of weeks and that means we’re behind on a bunch of event coverage stories. I should have let readers know about today’s activities beforehand, but I just realized it was today, yesterday. I thought the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame Celebration of Speed was actually in the Fall. I wasn’t too far off, as they are holding another event on October 4th.
The Celebration of Speed is a fund raiser for the CMHF combined with a pretty laid back lapping day. Car owners are invited to spend the day lapping and sharing their cars with guests who would like to go for a ride. The entry fee is quite reasonable, as those who preregister pay only $395 for a day of lapping. Enthusiasts donate $25 per ride or $60 for 3 rides. That gets them a high speed thrill ride around Mosport, which is certainly more exciting than any roller coaster!
Adding to the fun is the fact that Canadian racing personalities Kenny Wilden and Scott Maxwell are on hand, giving fans a real high speed tour of the track. Some car owners have likely had a bit of an eye opener as they realize how fast their machines really are!
The Celebration of Speed runs until 5 pm this afternoon at Mosport. If you can’t make it up today, circle October 4th on your calendar and take the day off work. You’ll be happy you did!
