Amongst the world’s most incredible cars, there tends to be the odd one that stands out and becomes a legend among icons. One such car was the Shelby Supersnake. A twin supercharged 427 S/C that produces in excess of 800 horsepower. There were two Supersnakes. One was destroyed by another legend, Bill Cosby. The other one, pictured above is was Carroll Shelby’s personal ride.

“When I built this dual supercharged 427 Cobra in 1966, I wanted it to be the fastest, meanest car on the road,” said Shelby. “Forty years later, it will still kick the tail of just about anything in the world.”

Little surprise then that this one off beast with undeniable pedigree took the gavel to a whopping 5 million. One can only imagine the electricity in the air when this beast rolled up the ramp.

This machine has a bit of visual significance for me, as I’m having my first tattoo done next week and it will be of none other than a Shelby Cobra. More on that over the next week.
