Carnival of Wheels: Edition #50

Here we are on week 50 of the Carnival of Wheels. There isn’t anything automotive on TV and the weather outside is frightful. The storm that battered Texas and everything to the north have finally made it’s way to the Toronto area. Outside, the snow that has threatened all night is now beginning to pile up, with giant wet flakes. Getting the Christmas tree later today should be a treat. For now though, the fire is bright and the coffee is hot so let’s get strapped in and take a quick lap around the auto blogs.

Ok, is it not bad enough that we are living through a the most wintry fall in years here in Ontario, but Alborz from Australian Car Advice has to send me a his Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster review? With shots of the car on the beach no less! Oh well, I suppose the Chrysler 300 AWD tester in my driveway is better suited to this weather anyway.

At the other end of the Down Under spectrum, we have Craig from AutoFix.com who wants to make sure you reach grandmother’s house on Christmas day safely. Craig’s list of things to check is aimed at those of us who actually look at stuff themselves rather than run to the dealer every two minutes, or never at all. The mention of wiper blades is an important item here in snow land. Windshield wipers can freeze to the windshield and then are torn when the driver turns them on without clearing the ice. Inevitably, the owner ends up at the dealer looking for warranty for the scratched windshield. Few manufacturers warrant torn wipers as they are caused by a lazy driver, not a defect!

Sorry Craig, I sort of hijacked your post!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Mad Kane here in the CoW. This week she joins us with something that is guaranteed to happen to your new car.

As the year comes to a close, Brian has made some reflections on the year that was racing at RaceDriven. Oh how I would love to see that reunification of the open wheelers in North America.

That’s just about it for this week’s Carnival of Wheels. We’re beginning the big countdown to our one year anniversary of the CoW and I somehow think the year end edition will be huge! Before that though, we have just one more CoW so be sure to submit a post to the next Carnival of Wheels, and don’t forget to send some of your readers here for a visit.
