Well, I suppose the holiday season is officially over now. The kids are back in school tomorrow and the neighbourhood teens are starting to act up again. We awoke this morning to that violated feeling that comes when some punk has rifled through your cars looking for change. Of course they scored about 75 cents and stole the ashtray from the Protege 5. Dolts. On a more positive note, it’s Sunday and that means the time has come for round 2 of the Carnival of Wheels. I’ve been looking forward to this all week, so lets roll!
We all know that cars cost us dearly, in fact they put most of us into some pretty hefty debt. Steve Faber wants to help us all erase our debt and he’s got some thoughts about how we can control cost of ownership. Do you know how much of your new car’s value is gone when you drive off the lot? Steve does.
With the New Year, we are usually over run with tons of meaningless resolutions and year end reviews. Sometimes though, we even get some useful predictions. Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown has some pretty interesting views on what direction the auto industry will take in 2007. Who do you think the top automaker will be?
Here in North America, many of us have grown up dreaming about the mythical Autobahn. A place where Hans & Franz can zoom to work as fast as their weinermobile will go. It seems that the dream of the Autobahn is being threatened by those pesky environmentalists. Egon at Automoblog wishes the hippies would find a new obsession.
Have you ever stood at the end of the driveway and cried as your baby is being driven away by it’s new owner? I have, more times than is masculine to admit. Some guys though don’t care, to them it’s just another car. Over at The Driving Woman, Sheila Scarborough is a car Loyalist who really wants her 1973 Ford Torino back in her life. I can’t say that I blame her.
What’s wrong with American automakers? It’s a question I’ve asked many times, as I’m sure others have as well. Dorri at If it’s got an engine… wonders if they will ever learn. Let’s face it, would you buy a Sebring or a Camry? The guys who plan the traditional domestic product lines just don’t get it!
And that’s it for this week’s edition of the Carnival of Wheels. Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit all of our friends who submitted this week. Be sure to visit again next Sunday for round 3.
