It seems like forever since I’ve put together a Carnival of Wheels. A look back into the archives shows that it has been well over a year since I stopped writing the weekly post. Now that I have a little more time on my hands, perhaps the time has come to resurrect the feature. I’m not sure if this will become a regular thing, but it feels good for today. To kick things off, I’ll have a look around at some of the old contributors and see who is still active online.
First up has to be Mark Tapscott who sorta spawned the CoW. You see, long before there was a CoW there was the Carnival of Cars. When Mark found it to be too time consuming, he mothballed the column for a while. I’m happy to say that he is churning out the occasional CoC at the Examiner.com, keeping tabs on all of us auto bloggers and spreading the link love. Today’s CoC is here.
Road racers have long made fun of those roundy round guys for putting the cars on the trailer when a few rain drops appear. Over at RaceDriven, Brian Vermette mulls over the old rain tire question, while also commenting on the length of the NASCAR race at Pocono.
One of our regulars back in the day at the CoW was a guy named Alborz Fallah who had started a little blog called CarAdvice. With a bit of enthusiasm and hard work, Alborz has grown his corner of the web into one of the most powerful automotive news sources in Australia and well respected on the webs around the world too. Truly a great story of a virtual David taking on the Goliath’s of automotive publishing. Well done Al.
Also from down under is our old friend Craig from AutoFix. Craig is an automotive tech who was sidelined by a back injury and decided to share his knowledge with the DIY crowd online. The most recent project is the restoration of a Wolsley 6/80 that is getting a nice new coat of paint.
Often controversial, Jeff Fisher at Driving Enthusiast has amassed an incredible amount of content in his archives.
Jody DeVere and the girls at AskPatty have grown their small corner of the web into the most respected source of female friendly auto stuff since we met them a few years ago through the CoW. They also have their own Carnival for female focused news.
Back when I first began blogging about cars, one of the first guys I spoke with was Joe from My Ford Dreams. Joe has been trying to take advantage of C4C and put himself in a new Escape, but the object of his desire is proving to be elusive.
Another long time contributor to the CoW is Chris Burdick, who along with a growing team of writers has turned Automoblog into a great property. It amazes me the wicked rides that Chris gets to review way down in the Carolinas. We just don’t get stuff like GT-R’s on the press fleet here in Ontario. Bummer.
Back when I first started the CoW, Alex Nunez was slaving away publishing his own automotive blog. Now, he’s one of The Dudes at Autoblog. Nicely done!
The boys at the Pansy Patrol are some hard core track dogs and they’ve turned PP into a great resource for those of us who are interested in flogging 4 wheels around a track.
I’m sure there are more who I’ve missed, but that is probably enough link love for now. There are so many great automotive blogs out there just waiting to be explored. Next time I think I’ll cover some of my fellow Canuck writers.

Hello,
Your site http://thegarageblog.com/garage/carnival-of-wheels-a-tour-around-the-automotive-blogs/ does a great job covering Carnival of Wheels: A tour around the automotive blogs. I thought you might be interested in some information on car donation. Your blog could support worthy non-profits by letting people know that they can help charities and help themselves by donating a car. We also offer a commission of $100 per car donation referral when you add a link to http://www.donatecarusa.com . All you do is add a link and we cut you a check. Call me or email for more information. It would be great to offer your readers the car donation option and for you to receive the usual $100 advertising share (instead of Google or the newspapers).
Thanks,
