Team press release
Mooresville, NC (April 18, 2011) Tax day is here, on the non-traditional day of April 18th. While many are preparing their final return for Uncle Sam, GBR is busy preparing for tomorrow’s test in Georgia as the team gets ready for race action again with the K&N Pro Series at Richmond next week.
The now familiar No.75 returns to the track for the first time since winning the season-opening All-Star Showdown in Irwindale. Chassis 002 has a fresh new body and hopefully a little more speed going to a track that will be new to both the driver and the team.
“Everyone that has been to Richmond says it’s an awesome track to race on,” commented GBR driver Jason Bowles. “We’re going to have to show up with our guns loaded since as a team we’ve never raced here, but I already know I’m going to like this track. Tomorrow we’ve got an entire day of testing at a track that’s similar and then a lot of time to sort out what we learn.
“Compared to where we were for the Showdown, we’re way ahead which is a good feeling. Even so, we’ll be at it hard all week getting the car totally right for loading on the hauler next week.”
Jeff Fultz is also looking forward to a trip to Richmond, this go-around as a crew chief for the first time after so many years competing at the .75-mile oval on the Cup side.
“Richmond is one of those tracks I look forward to, it’s about as perfect as it gets. You have kind of that short track feel but with some legs to it; that, and the racing kicks ass there,” said Fultz.. “We should be good when we roll off, it’s Jason’s kind of track. You have to be fast, but also patient and that’s what won us the Showdown. We’ll see next week, but I think we’ll be ready to run up front.”
