Trois Rivieres, QC. (August 8, 2011) NASCAR driver Pierre Bourque returned to the historic Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres in the #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge and expected a fast race car to battle the tough competition. What he wasn’t expecting was to also battle the elements as the feature event was held during a rain shower.
With perfect conditions on Saturday for practice and qualifying Bourque set out to test the limits of the #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge. “We had a little equipment problem and didn’t get out right at the start of the session but the car felt really solid right away†said Bourque.
During the afternoon qualifying session Bourque once again showed well in the #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge. “This car felt racy right from the start of the day said the driver. “I really felt in total control on this great track†he added.
A twist in the equation came Sunday when rain showers soaked the track prior to the start of the race. “It certainly had everybody talking†explained Bourque. “But I knew that our #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge was really strong and it was up to me to do my job and try to bring it home†he stated.
Bourque was doing exactly what he needed to do looking to secure a solid finish. “It was not only the slick track but visibility that we had to battle†said Bourque. “Our day was going really well though and I’d moved the #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge up to eleventh spot†he stated.
Unfortunately another driver wasn’t as fortunate. The #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge was contacted by another competitor†said Bourque. “The hit got us on the right front and broke some of the steering and brake parts†said the driver.
If not for that incident Bourque looked to be set for a top ten finish. “It’s too bad we had that unfortunate incident†said Bourque. “We were having a great run in the #00 Mahindra Tractor’s Dodge here in front of all these amazing race fans that endured these tough conditions todayâ€Â.
Pierre Bourque will be in action next during round nine of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series August 19-20 as part of the Nationwide weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec. Fans can watch all of the 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events on TSN.
