Over at Autoblog today, they’ve spotted a right hand drive something. Is it a Scion? Honda? Maybe it’s the upcoming 2nd gen Nissan X-Trail. Well, here in The Garage we can rule that one out.

Normally I try not to mix work into The Garage, but I’m pretty disappointed with the auto industry of late, so here goes. At a recent industry meeting, a fairly high ranking Nissan official let slip with a tidbit of info regarding the future of X-Trail. For our US readers, the X-Trail is a small sport ute that is sold world wide, including Canada, but not in the good old U S of A. In many markets it outsells the small ute offerings from Honda and Toyota, so the potential impact for North America is huge. So, what is this little morsel? The next X-Trail will in fact be the concept whose name cannot be pronounced.

As for the JDM proto that Autoblog has pics of, I’d lay money on a new Honda Element.
