As a former Fiat owner, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Italian Marque. Perhaps the coolest of the little Fiats was the Fiat Abarth 850 TC. This stunning example is owned by French language auto writer Alain Raymond who writes a weekly column for LaPresse from Quebec and can also be found online at Mon Volant.
Alain has owned #328 for about 5 years. It was an e-bay find from Denver that Alain was able to buy after an auction sale fell through, from a guy named Umberto Toscano, who had raced the car for several years. One can only guess that he replaced the car with another Fiat! Upon bringing the car back to Canada, Alain added a full roll cage to replace the simple single bar that was in the car in order to make it safe for racing.
Having been rolled last summer, the car went through a full repaint last winter. The scars of the roll are still evident as character marks on the door handle.
Neat little car and to think he bought it from ebay. Thanks for the pics never seen a Fiat Abarth 850 TC before.
That is a very cool little car. Learned to drive on a Fiat. But the grocery getting hatchback deal. It was green and ugly! But had a choke and that was cool.
Nice car. Since it was built for racing, I’m sure it still has a good engine condition.
One of the most fun car. I own and race one in Europe n the 60’s. looking at this one give me goose bumps. Beautifull one.
-trying to find a fiat similar in the US – Uncle Sam wants to sell me a gas-guzzling monstrosity, and it’s tough to find these.
How to buy one here? any hints?
Thanks
Just stumbled on your question… I found the car in Denver, Colorado. Check Abarth on eBay; they come up from time to time. Also know a couple of experts who have good contacts in Europe if you are seriously interested. Cheers
