A couple of weeks ago I happened across this poor old girl at the side of the road, just waiting to be turned into a retro rod of some sort. I called the guy who had it for sale and he said it was a 1929 Ford Double A logging truck that he had just brought back from a trip to Maine. He had already sold it for $1,500. Someone has a lot of work on their hands, but definitely a cool project.
Now I don’t know all that much about old Fords, but I can’t recall ever hearing the term double A. I’m guessing it has something to do with the dual rear axle, but I’m sure those boys on the West Coast will straighten me out.
Oh man is that a beauty! Ford AA was Ford’s trucks with one ton chassis. For more specifics on them check out this site… http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1920-1929-ford-trucks.htm/printable
Having grown up around my father’s lumber and logging business I find I still have a longing to own an old logging truck but the ones I would enjoy the most are more from the 50’s and early 60’s simply because they are the ones I remember most of the guys driving.

Wow that’s a classic.
Double A's had 3 or 4 more horsepower than an A model. This title was given to heavy duty trucks and commercial vehicle even if they weren't 1 ton capacity.
