Across the Pond

Some interesting possibilities are in store for Ford and their upcoming European Kuga compact SUV.

This is a first look at the Kuga fresh off the production line.

Although the 4×4 crossover can be a cousin to the competing Tucson and Santa Fe, there is something in the design that shows that Ford is starting to get it. In my humble opinion it is more stylish than either of its perceived rivals.

Set to be released in Europe this spring, the production model pictured above is similar to the concept vehicle that appeared at the Frankfurt Auto Show this past September. The Kuga will come with a variety of engine choices including Ford’s new 2.0L turbo diesel.

Before you start migrating to your Ford dealer to take a peek, the company still has not announced if the Kuga will make it to North America. Speculation has it that the Kuga could eventually be a replacement for the Mercury Mariner or replace the current Escape.

If the Escape is being contemplated, it would certainly be a radical re-skinning from the familiar boxy style.
