Yesterday was a rough day at La Carrera Panamerica for more than a few competitors. This BMW sedan appears to have suffered a fairly heavy roll, while many other cars have sustained substantial damage. Many of these cars are done for good, let alone not finishing the event. Several crews sustained broken limbs and other usual crash damage, but apparently nobody has been injured seriously.
Our home team, Gary Faules and Jon Emerson, were not without their troubles as well. A plugged fuel filter dropped fuel pressure to a rather pathetic 2 psi, hardly enough to keep the 503 horsepower 289 running, let alone being competitive. As a result, Team CBR dropped 1 place in class. The good thing is that Lucky has actually climbed in the overall standings and now sits in 17th overall.
Gary shows the dirty hands resulting from the fuel problem, but everywhere they go, Lucky and crew are treated like superstars, signing autographs and having their pictures taken.
