The past week has been a whirlwind of activity. Earlier in the week I made the 9 1/2 hour drive from Toronto to Chicago and then split the drive home between last night and today. In between, there were new model launches, rumbling V-8’s, promo gals and even an encounter with the legendary Buddy Guy.
The big announcements of media day came from Chevrolet and Dodge, as Ed Welburn unveiled the much anticipated Camaro ZL-1 and Ralph Gilles showed off the new Charger RT. Anyone who thinks the horsepower wars are over should visit the Chicago Auto Show to see just how the big boys are coming back with bigger and badder toys.
Hard-core performance isn’t just limited to the Detroit brands, as relative newcomer Hyundai revealed a new Genesis sedan boasting a 5.0L V8 that is well north of 400 horsepower! Adding to the fun, Rhys Millen will pilot the new Hyundai Veloster this year in the US Rallycross series. This is one serious machine!
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll have daily updates on the excitement in Chicago. More coverage begins on Monday so be sure to check back for more!
