By now most enthusiasts know that Ken Block had a bit of an off in his first WRC event in Mexico but still managed to finish in 18th after repairs were completed. That doesn’t really tell the whole tale though. Through the interwebs, we heard the WRC Ford Focus had a broken control arm. We didn’t hear that the car ended up on its side, nor that Ken & Alex missed an entire day of competition. Given that this was really a learning rally, none of that really mattered. What did matter was that Ken got comfortable in the car quickly and on Sunday Ken proved that he is capable of running as fast as the leaders.
Once he gets more seat time, it sounds like there will finally be a North American rally star for the first time since the early Eighties, when John Buffum still had hair!
MWRT press release, another photo and a fabulous video after the break.
