While big pro race events are always fun, there really is no better way to immerse yourself in motorsports than to visit (or compete in) a vintage festival. Here in Ontario we are lucky to play host to one of the best festivals run by VARAC at Mosport each June. Its hard to believe that this will be the 4th year in a row that we’ll be bringing our readers along for to our favorite event of the year!
Whether you are a grizzled veteran or have never been to a race before, the VARAC Festival is the place to be in southern Ontario next weekend. The paddock is open and spectators are free to wander among the incredible machinery. Most drivers are more than happy to meet the fans and talk about their car and if they play their cards right, the kids will probably be asked if they want to sit in a car or 5.
Over the weekend, there is lots of activity: a Mini only race to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the little car, the German Joust for Teutonic racers, a classic car show and MiniMeet North
We might even set up a command post for readers of The Garage depending on how the week goes.

Gary,
Be sure and look up my good friend Doug Mockett with his formula cars and say hello.
Any idea what cars Doug is bringing up? He isn’t shown on the entry list, but the entries might be under driver’s names. I know I recognize some of his cars from past festivals.
I havent asked him but I know he usually shows up for that one. He was racing recently in South Africa.
See ya there Gary!! actually gonna make it out for this one!
I will be there Sat. and Sun. Will prowl the paddock depending on how well I am walking. Will watch from turn 3 although I may be at Turn 2 a bit with the CHMSPG. White Cobalt unless my friend borrows a Co. car complete with radar, siren and red lights. Not very likely.
Gord Green who your dad raced against will be there I am pretty sure.
I stay at the Lindsay Inn. Super restaurant in Lindsay is Captains at The Kawaratha Lakes Inn. Several unusual dishes as well as standard fare and the Jambalya is to die for. Good breakfasts as well and they open at 7. South of 7 on 35.
Maybe we will finally meet.
Rob & Leighton, I’ll keep an eye out for ya!
If I get Betty torn down and back together wednesday/thursday night, you shouldn’t have a problem spotting us!!
Will she fit through the tunnel?
the Xterra did with the lights and rack…
Betty’s only 6′11″… squeezes into the garage… the Xterra didn’t.
See you at the track Gary. I’ll wash the GT6 and see if I can make her presentable.
Really looking forward to this years races as I’ll be viewing it from a whole new POV.
But 2010’s POV should be even better.
