As a kid, the opening scene from Gumball Rally were burned into my brain. What could be better than a secret society of oddball characters in hot cars racing across the land without a care for local speed limits?

The modern version is called Gumball 3000 and it’s a lot more organized and a tiny bit more lawful, but it still exudes the same excitement. The star studded 2007 edition kicks off this Sunday in London, England before making it’s way to Asia and then back to London.

This morning Mitsubishi revealed a few more details regarding a pair of new models for the Japanese home market. The Lancer we see here in North America will be rebadged as the Galant Fortis. The official name for the beastly rally sedan is the Lancer Evolution X.

They are still teasing us by not releasing performance figures for the Evo’s drivetrain. Mitsubishi has confirmed that the 2.0 MIVEC engine turn all 4 wheels through a six speed automated manual transmission.

It’s not so long ago that Sabine Schmidt came oh so close to besting a Jaguar while lapping the famed Nurburgring. Yesterday, Ford released the very limited edition Transit Sportvan. In homage to that trip around The Green Hell, the cover was pulled off by non other than Ms. Schmidt.

While aimed at tradesmen in the UK, there is little question that this machine would be a sure hit over on this side of the pond. Come on Ford, bring this work van to North America, diesel and all.

Some guys just have the coolest stuff in their garage. Coop went to visit his friend Bobby’s place to pick up some parts and took some shots of an incredible junk pile. Of course the term Junk Pile would only really apply if you can’t see the vast history contained within these objects. This place is the type of shop that The Garage aspires to be! That’s right, the Beetle Juice Adams Family alumni is set to play Trixie in a new big screen adaptation of the classic cartoon Speed Racer. Our hero, Speed is to be played by Emile Hirsch.
