March 711-6 as raced by Ronnie Peterson
846 photos and a sunburn. I don’t have a clue where to begin. Do I write or do I edit photos. It’s going to take days, maybe even weeks to tell all the stories and edit all the images. For now, it’s time for bed and one quick story.
I watched a Formula 1 race at Mosport today. Now if that in itself wasn’t cool enough, the company I watched it with made it almost surreal. I finished my day by watching a Formula 1 race with 2005 Canadian rally champion Peter Thomson, 1981 Canadian rally champion Randy Black and none other than legendary Canadian F1 team owner and constructor Walter Wolf!
Quote of the day goes to Mr. Wolf. “The last time I watched my cars race, they won”
I went on Friday and I too got a sunburn and peeled like a ’94 Chevrolet Celebrity. It was a definite thrill seeing all those F1 cars AND a Mercedes SLR 722 in the paddock.
I noticed the SLR too, hiding behind the trailer where the 2 M1’s were. I’ve got lots of photos of the M1’s coming soon, along with some video.
I had a lengthy hospital stay prior to the festival but they let me out just in time. It was my first visit to Mosport and my first time hearing a Ford Cosworth screaming past me at 190mph. The minis were a blast to watch as well. Hopefully, next year if all goes well Ill be a participant and not just a spectator. I really enjoyed my day other than the sunburn and ive been raving about vintage racing since. My hat goes off to the Mosport Mgt. and staff for providing such a clean facility.
