It’s early morning on Christmas Eve. Today promises to be full of running around, wrapping presents and visiting friends, so there won’t be much time for writing. Instead, I thought I’d share one of my favourite Christmas songs and the video to go along with it. David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing Little Drummer Boy. Apparently, the whole Peace on Earth combo came about because Bowie didn’t like the Little Drummer Boy bit and so the piece was reworked just hours before Bing’s Christmas show was due to go to air. Bing died a month later, leaving us with what may be one of his most classic bits of work.
I remember trying to find this on CD for years and then when I finally did, it also contained the video. Thanks to the joys of YouTube, we can all share the joy.
You’ve ruined my Saturday morning read! This from a friend who religiously reads the Wheels section of the Toronto Star every weekend. From reading The Garage, he’s already read most of the info that’s printed in the paper before it arrives. This may be the root of the problem between New Media and Traditional Media. New Media (ie blogs) publish the news as it happens. Traditional Media typically publish the news a week or even months after it actually happens. This problem is not limited to the motoring industry, as it affects all media outlets. News has always been about getting The Scoop. Due to the realities of publishing, bloggers get The Scoop more often than not these days and that has to be hurting the print guys. The print guys are striking back. Continue reading →
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just released their test results for 8 small cars, and the Nissan Versa was the hands down winner. They warn though that occupants of large cars are still safer than those in little cars.

Oh no, here comes another blog Carnival! Well, I must admit that I’ve been missing the Carnival of Cars lately, so I decided that I’d try my hand at creating a new weekly review.
The Carnival of Wheels will run weekly on Sundays, meaning that all you readers who surf while you’re at work will have something to look forward to on Monday Mornings.

One thing about being Canadian is that we don’t get all riled up about all this political nonsense like our neighbours to the south do. Personally, I think the idea of a bunch of kids whacking the shit out of a Humvee full of GI Joe’s is pretty funny.

It’s become somewhat of a tradition for journalists to use this time of year to reflect upon the year gone by and maybe even make a few predictions. I might be the furthest thing from a traditional journo and I’ve never had much inclination to reflect on the past year and I don’t think I’ve ever made a prediction that’s stuck. Blogging guru Darren Rowse is hosting yet another group writing project and it’s gotten the creative juices flowing. So here, for the first time are some tongue in cheek motorsports predictions from The Garage for 2007.
Collisions between deer and cars are never a good combination. Often the driver, or passengers end up dying from the severity of the impact. This however was a real oddball crash. Continue reading →
