2006 has marked the 40th anniversary of Ford’s historic 1,2,3 win over the old man from Maranello at the coveted 24 hour race at Le Mans France. Ford managed to get all 3 cars together for the first time since Ford staged a similar photo shoot for the 30th anniversary. I guess if repeating history works, we’ll see this again in 2016.

Ford’s GT40 program was born after Ferrari pissed Ford off by playing his manipulative games with the American manufacturer. Ford wanted to buy Ferrari and had offered a substantial amount of cash in the process. Crusty old Enzo started playing games at the last minute and Henry stormed back to Detroit, with the command that his people must beat the Italian team at Le Mans, no matter what the cost. A lengendary team was assembled and the Ford GT40 legend was born.
